The Education to Vocation Data Explorer provides an interactive platform for engaging with the High School Longitudinal Study data collected by the National Center for Educational Statistics. This project is aimed at a broad audience, namely anyone interested in the school to work track, and also anyone willing to engage with this data set to become more familiar with analyzing data tables and visualizations.
The EVDE project is in multiple parts: first a review of current literature will situate the creation of the Explorer within the contemporary landscape of higher education data utilization. The second section describes the methodology in use, particularly the criticality employed to curate and present the datasets. The use of technology in teaching and learning is now all but required in K-12 and higher education, and various contingencies have been tied to its outcomes. Finally, the EVDE will provide an interactive engagement with the data.
